Matthew Caruana

  • As a financial planner and mortgage broker with 15 years of experience in the construction industry, Matt can help with all your financial needs. From planning retirement, managed investments and personal risk insurance to construction and development finance, he has the experience and resources to assist.

    Since 2006, Matt has been heavily involved in construction and business management and he still holds a project director position with the iNfinite Building Group. He joined Yellow Brick Road in 2013 in order to offer a complete range of financial services and quality advice to clients, whilst also helping them achieve their financial goals now and into the future. His time as Branch Principal at YBR Niddrie has given him a comprehensive understanding of how the finance industry works and how to personalise his clients’ lending experience. When YBR sold their wealth management business in 2020, he started providing financial advice under Control Finance.

    In July 2022, Matt left YBR to take on the position of Chief of Operations for the newly revamped Taking Control Finance Services, formerly InterPrac Finance Services. Matt is friendly and enthusiastic about helping his clients reach their financial goals, yet realistic and humble enough to help keep them on track. He acts with integrity and passion, making sure that every concern is listened to and addressed with a personalised approach. All of these qualities combined with his advanced interpersonal skills results in his clients being informed at every stage of the lending process, leaving them with the confidence to take control of their financial future.

    As a father of 3, Matt understands what it takes to run a household and some of the ongoing needs first-hand. Be it getting a new home, looking to invest or just getting more out of your money, Matt has a solution for you. He is a very objective-based financial adviser and mortgage broker, committed to getting you to where you would like to be financially. He loves the Niddrie and Essendon area, its history and homes. When he’s not in the office he loves to spend quality time with his family, as well as playing guitar, singing and water-skiing up at Lake Mulwala.

  • Tara is a dedicated professional in accounting, taxation, and financial advice. With qualifications including a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting and Financial Advice from Deakin University, Tara has established herself as a trusted partner for individuals and businesses. Her client-centric approach and ethical practices have made her a valuable asset to her clients.

    Tara works closely with each client to understand their unique needs. With a focus on small to medium-sized businesses, she provides bookkeeping, tax preparation, and advisory services. Tara's expertise also extends to assisting individuals with retirement planning, family financial planning, and optimising superannuation and insurance needs.

    Tara has a wealth of experience in the industry. Prior to starting her own practice, she spent eight years at a local firm, specialising in tax, accounting, and financial advisory services. Her proficiency in trust and company setups helped clients reduce liability and find peace of mind while focusing on their work.

    Adding to her qualifications, Tara completed her Certificate IV in Finance & Mortgage Broking in early 2023. This additional expertise enables her to provide comprehensive financial solutions, including mortgage and lending services, to better serve her clients.

    With her personalised service and comprehensive expertise, Tara provides exceptional support to individuals and businesses alike. Her goal is to support her clients’ financial well-being and help them navigate complex financial decisions with confidence.

Samy reddy

  • Samy is an experienced paraplanner who has been working in financial planning since 2018, with a background in both administration and paraplanning roles. In her current position, Samy is primarily responsible for the research and analysis that supports the advice provided by the advisers at Control Finance. She works closely with Matt to ensure the thorough review and analysis of every aspect of our clients’ circumstances in order to guarantee the delivery of appropriate & personal financial advice.

    Samy is highly analytical, and one of her favourite things about the job is the opportunity to identify the best possible outcome for our clients. With a passion for helping clients achieve their financial goals, Samy has a strong track record of providing exceptional customer service and personalised guidance.

    In her free time, Samy enjoys baking and spending time with her twin boys.

Laura Caruana

  • Laura joined the Control Finance team in 2018, back when it was still Yellow Brick Road Niddrie. Specialising in client support & paraplanning, Laura is responsible for the continual review and simplification of business processes for Control Finance, to ensure the delivery of compliant, efficient and reliable advice.

    As a lover of lists and with a keen eye for detail, Laura is continually improving office practices to ensure that the ongoing advice requirements are met for hundreds of clients. She has a strong ability to identify strategies and process improvements, always working to better service and retain existing clients. Almost always in the office with a smile on her face, she strives to be a valuable and reliable member of the Control Finance support team in all aspects of her role.

    When she’s not at work, Laura is an avid camper and outdoor enthusiast. She loves sushi trains and curling up with a good book when her attention span permits.
